The Strata valve has 5 settings or performance level (P/L), ranging from 0.5 to 2.5. Each level corresponds to a range of opening pressures and flow rates. The Medtronic Strata ® valve is an adjustable ball and spring valve. The tension of the valve’s spring can be altered utilizing a magnetic rotor mechanism integral to the valve. This adjustment is made non-invasively utilizing the hand-held StrataVarus adjustment tool to alter the magnetic rotor’s position and thus tension of the valve’s spring.

Instructions for Strata® Valve, StrataVarius® Adjustment

Position the system directly over the valve, with the red arrow 8. Lower the Adjustment Tool (magnet) straight into the cutout, pointing in the direction of fluid flow. with the blue arrow pointing to the current valve setting.

On the basis of this multicentre prospective randomised trial it is to be recommended to treat patients with INPH with a Medtronic (PS Medical) Strata Valve Strata valves and their flow-regulation adjustment can be identified in plain skull X-rays. MRI scanners up to 3 Tesla are quoted to be safe, but a post-MRI radiologic check of adjustment is recommended in literature. 2017-08-01 · A programmable valve such as the Medtronic Strata Adjustable Pressure valve allows the neurosurgeon the opportunity to adjust the valve pressure non-invasively based on clinical or radiographic findings in the post-operative setting , , .

Set the Indicator Tool (compass) into the Locator Tool packaging, so the blue arrows are pointing in the same direction as while aligning the red bands on the tools. 2010-02-11 In summary, the optimal setting for the treatment of a patient with iNPH is a VP shunt with an opening pressure of 5 cm H 2 O and a gravitational unit (shunt assistant, proSA), which will prevent overdrainage, at 20 cm H 2 O. Adjustability is beneficial for the patient, and the first adjustments should be performed at about 3 months after surgery.
